Yo LMR, please could you give an introduction to yourself for those not aware of your work?
I’m LMR and I’ve been making music for about 4 years now and been steady on my grind since lockdown, properly been noticed by and performed for loads of rappers and influencers such as Stormzy, DTG, Big Zuu, and Aj Tracey. I’m from south London and have been on many artist platforms such as Thespitgameuk, rtgmediatv, tracksontap, and a few more my main focus and messages that I put out are about not forgetting where you’re from as I believe that people should never switch up for the fame and money. I won Stormzy’s first-ever ‘Merky Christmas’ event in 2021 and was even called back the following year to headline the event I was and am so grateful for the opportunity as it brought me to perform in front of the likes of kid wild, Zeze Millz, Ian wright, ArrDee, and Big Shaq.
You’ve had a proper come-up, for sure, what does music mean to you, man?
Music to me is my life. I’ve grown up my whole life around music with mum singing around the house, my sister singing and dancing to music and my dad dj’ing for fun. But overall music in my opinion is more than just rhymes and a beat but a key of emotion as most songs can change moods and uplift or bring down a person's mood.
We love to hear that, who were you listening to growing up?
Growing up I listened to a lot of Michael Jackson and James Brown I feel like they have a lot of energy and make very catchy songs just like mine.
Would you say you’re heavily influenced by American artists?
I don’t think I’m heavily influenced by American artists but they do play a good part in my music like J Cole, for example, he said that writing at least 3 pages a day helps improve your writing skills.
Super wise, what’s your opinion on the comparison between US and UK music?
I think that UK and US music are very similar in terms of work rate I don’t have a bias between the two and my playlist will reflect that too I feel like if you look in the right places you can find good music anywhere in the world.
You’re completely right, how would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t listened to your stuff before?
I’d say my music is quite a jumpy vibe to get people hyped and have fun but I am quite versatile and have loads of different kinds of music to what my people would expect.
Have you got a favourite genre to make music on?
Melodic and jazzy drill is probably my favourite genre at the moment but real rap trap and grime are probably my top three.
Is there a genre that you simply wouldn’t touch?
I don’t know if there is a genre I wouldn’t touch by for now maybe rock music as I don’t listen to it a lot.
A lot have people in rap have said the exact same thing, what’s next for you musically?
Right now I’m trying to sit on at least ten bangers before I release again but keep an eye on my page for a surprise soon.
Any teasers for us?
Right now, not really but be sure to check out and stream “boodoom badoow” link in my bio.
Of course, do you have any advice for someone trying to make music right now?
Stay strong and keep grinding, the end result depends on how well you do now.
Thank you, someone out there needed to hear that for sure, what was it like meeting the likes of AJ Tracey, and Stormzy.
Didn’t get to actually meet AJ as he was in the audience but after meeting Stormzy it was phenomenal and inspiring, his name for me was ‘star boy’.
That sounds so surreal, talk to me about your community and what it means to you.
I Grew up in church and my church, torchlight ministries have been my first audience my pastor AKA Aunty Alison AKA relevant rev has supported me in every aspect of my career. Whether that be getting me shows or booking me for youth performances. Also, my mum (manager) also supported me in my journey in ways some people could wish they had. She has gotten me equipment whenever I needed it and also gives me tricks and tips even if I don’t want to hear them.
That’s so sick, has your mum been the manager from the start?
100000% she’s been my manager from the start she’s been extremely supportive and it makes me happy to have a “mumager” like her.
Sounds like you have such a sick relationship and circle around you, do you have anybody you would like to shout out, someone that’s helped you through something, or just a friend, anyone you like?
Right now I've been listening a lot to my brother Shakesthekid and he’s killing it rn so shoutout to him.
I appreciate it man, thank you for your time and efforts in speaking with us!
