Recently, we've been in touch with Mr Slimister himself, getting to know more about how music makes him feel, going to America, favourite tunes and member clubs. Check out the interview below, make sure to leave a like, shout out Slim every time, go drop him a follow!

Yo Slim, what does music mean to you?

Don’t really know how to explain it but, all I know is that music makes me feel a certain way init, it makes me feel uplifted, do you know what I mean, connected on some next level, certain music makes my hair go on end and that, so I, I dunno what that means but I know a lot of music.

Have you got a favourite genre or artist that you take inspiration from?

Growing up, from a young age, like all your old school artists and then like in my teenage years probably Jadakiss, Dip-Set. I’d say after that, Black The Ripper, CAS is Dead and up to recent, kind of like Russ Millions, yeah their kinda my artists that I like, a few of them anyway. Also, I take inspiration and I like Octavian, Skepta, yeah definitely.

I respect that a lot, is it easy for you to make tunes, do you like to take your time and make it perfect, or are you just a man that likes to get everything out?

I’m a bit of a perfectionist, yeah I like thing to be tight as fuck, do you know what I mean and, it varies sometimes I find it easy, sometimes it’s a little bit more difficult, sometimes it takes a day, sometimes it takes a month or a couple, so it varies.

Have you got a favourite tune that you’ve made?

I liked ‘ET’ on my ‘100% THC’ album, it was a bit different to what I’d done before, I enjoyed making it, it was cool and it sounds great as well.

What do you think the current rap scene is missing?

To be honest, I don’t think the rap scene is missing anything, I think it’s growing and has grown into a wonderful genre man, it’s like practically mainstream now, do you know what I mean.

What’s your opinion on rap beef, do you think everyone should just get on?

I think rap beef is the glue to the Hip Hop scene, without the beef and the hype and all them things there people don’t reach their peak. So yeah, rap battles, it has to happen, rap beef has to happen like yeah, it’s a great thing for the music industry I believe.

Do you listen to a lot of American stuff, is there a huge musical difference?

I listen to a fair bit of both, to be honest. There are definitely some differences but there are also similarities so it’s hard to say really as a definite answer. I’ve been over there twice, Ashgrove and Florida.

I hear you, I’ve never been but would love to go over to the states one day, what’s next for Slimister?

At the moment I’m working on my brand Weed Lovers London Link Up, my private member's club, but the next year my new mixtape, should be on the way, do you know what I mean, back onto the music next year. I’ve got a few blue tick features in the works as well so hopefully, that comes through, everything should be good.

Sounds good man, finally, do you have anyone you want to shout out, anyone upcoming in the scene, or just someone you like at the moment?

Special shout out to Skinnyman, for helping on my path to this music ting, shout out Dirty Daps, look out for his stuff, shout out CAS is DEAD, rest in peace Black The Ripper, shout out Iron Bars, yeah man I’ll leave it at dat.
