Headie One has just released his highly anticipated track 'Martins Sofa' as fans have been begging for it ever since the release of '50s' when he said "The fans calling for Martins Sofa, it might be the first single on my second". The track is a reflection on Headie's career whilst growing up on Broadwater Farm estate in Tottenham, North London, letting all of his fans know where he truly came from, how he was able to become the sensation he is today, and what Martin was able to do for Headie over the years. As he references him continuously in the chorus "One-way trip to Martins Sofa, lost everything, felt like I had no one, sat stressed out on Martins Sofa (Turn Up), I done my first show, had to spud the promoter, head straight back to Martins sofa (Argh), I prey when the fame and the charting's over, I ain't gotta end up on Martins sofa (Told me turn, ayy)". You're able to see that Headie really relied on Martin to always be there to go back to after a hard day, and by the sound of it, it was quite a personal, emotional place for Headie to be.
The feedback on the track has been phenomenal too, the fans are loving it, for example, "This’ll be the most iconic moment of Headie’s career. History in the making", and "In my humble opinion this is one of his best tracks to date. It showcases the huge growth and how he’s perfecting his craft. STEADY!" and, "I feel like I’m witnessing history right now. Headie is the future of music!". As an artist, I can only imagine that those sorts of messages are what keep you going, and after hearing the track you can see that he defiantly needed this support and kind messages.
But how can Headie possibly move forward after dropping something so huge, we already know there's going to be a second album, but what kind of tracks are going to have to be on that track to overtake the hype around Martins Sofa? We know he has contacts as we've previously seen a Drake feature get spun by Headie on 'Only you freestyle. As well as features from Stormzy, Future, Burna Boy, Rich The Kid, and NorthSideBenji, so we are all very aware that Headie can get anyone he sees fit on a feature.
Let us know what you want to see on the next album over on our Instagram, this year's going to be huge for Headie!
