Meet Kent seaside boy, M'One as we talk about the pros and cons of being from a seaside town instead of London in terms of music, favourite beaches and of course, all new music coming soon. A huge thank you to M'One for his time in speaking with us, be sure to head over to Instagram and drop a follow on @monemusic1 to keep up with all things M'One.
Hey M'One, please can you give an introduction to yourself for anyone who doesn't already know you?
I'm M’One im a UK drill rapper from Kent, UK. I don't do the normal dark drill that you hear everywhere though I have more of a party vibe to my music making you wanna get up n dance, just basically bringing colour to the generic UK drill sound.
How long have you been making music?
I've always been around music since I was young, I used to play piano guitar n that, but actually taking it seriously, I've been doing it for just over a year now.
And, who were you listening to growing up?
I listened to a lot of Eminem, 50 Cent, D12, a lot of old school boom bap.
Would you say that's a lot different or very similar to what you're currently listening to?
Sort of, I still listen to a lot of 50 Cent but I feel like the UK drill sound has defo started to take over.
Who are you listening to right now?
Central Cee, Digga D, Strandz, ArrDee, the list goes on but they're the go to artists at the moment. I've been listening to a lot of Jimmy from Homerton as well.
Does being from Kent affect your music career?
I guess so, the rap scene isn't big here at all, you do have a couple artists starting to make a name for themselves, but it;s nothing like the London music scene.
Do you think London is the place to be to be able to make it?
Yes and no. Being from Kent makes me stand out from the rest but then if you're in London, it can make the networking side a lot easier, there's pros, and there's cons.
I hear that a lot! What's the goal for M'One?
To be as bit as I can get, and network myself in the best ways possible. To put Kent on the map.
What's coming up for you?
I got a single I'm promoting on TikTok at the moment called 'Clap', hopefully when I build my name up even more I'll drop an EP.
When can we see 'Clap' on our screens?
When the time's right man, gonna build it up enough hype, and then I'll drop it.
It's only right, what does being from a seaside town mean to you?
Being from a seaside town it's actually calm, the scenery is good, chilled out, I literally have a beach down the road, so I don't have to do up some mission in the summer. It goes hand in hand with my music aswell, 'cause I mention myself as the seaside boy for my music persona.
If you could be on any beach anywhere, which would you pick?
Miami or Santa Monica right in the middle of spring break 100%
Do you have any advice for someone looking to get into music?
Keep going, keep pushing, you're already doing better than most man, they had the though and they didn't even start so keep up the grind.
Finally, do you have anyone you would like to shout out?
Shout out Liam, my right hand, shout out Frosty, if it weren't for him, I wouldn't be where I am now.
Absolutely, thank you for speaking with us!
