A huge thank you to C4Truth for speaking with us, a very humble guy that deserves his flowers.
Hey C4Truth, please can you give an introduction as to who you are for anyone who isn't yet aware?
So if you don't know, get to know, I'm an artist from South East London, Croydon, I go by the name of C4Truth, I'm 18 and I've been doing music for over five years now, and I'm glad to be where I am today, for real.
And, how did you get into making music?
So the way I got into music is that I've always had a passion for music from when I was younger, I used to listen to Stormzy, I used to listen to Queen Speechs from Lady Leshurr, from back in the 2014-2015 era, that was a prime time of music. But the way I got into music was 'cause I was inspired by them, and then ultimately over time I just started making my own bars, rapping in playgrounds, and doing rap battles, then yeah, I started taking it seriously, being where I am today.
How does music make you feel?
I feel like doing music as a whole and writing music myself, listening to music, and living in music, makes me feel multiple emotions, I'm not gonna lie. There are times when I've been doing music and I've just been so down and upset just because I felt like I'm not going to make it. Music also does give me hope, when I'll write a song that really works, it just gives me hope, it gives me passion, courage, and strength, music makes me feel so powerful in that sense, I'll be so honest.
Even when I'm listening to other people's songs, it gives me like, a sense of relatability. There was an artist I was listening to the other day and he said something like "I've given my all into music and my friends have started clouding away from me", and I genuinely feel like that as well, 'cause I've given so much into my music, 'cause I've been doing this for over five years and I've lost friends and it's changed so many things within my life.
How did your musical journey start? What was music like for you when you were growing up?
When I first started music at 14, I still consider that as growing up, so when I first came to the music scene, I really was just doing what was like good for me at the time and what I wanted to do, but as I started to see music more and I started to progress more into my craft, I realised that I couldn't do what I wanted to do anymore. That's what made me drive into the comedy section of music, because that's what actually gave me exposure, what got me attention, compared to what I wanted to do at the time, which was real rap. It wasn't getting me much exposure or attention, so I wasn't growing as an artist publicly.
And how did you need it when you discovered that you couldn't do exactly what you wanted?
I couldn't do exactly what I wanted, I won't lie to you, I felt so disheartened. I was genuinely upset for the longest time, but I think overall, I managed to get over it and then I found something I really do enjoy doing, something that actually does bring me engagement. It kind of just went from there, and I've just been building off that ever since really.
For example, even with what I was doing before, specifically with the real rap image, of course, it's what I wanted to do but it never really gave me the entertainment, however, if you look at the comedy stuff I'm doing now, I've recently just hit over three million views on one TikTok video, in a matter of two-three days, so yeah, the entertainment industry is what I'm working with. It's getting me a lot of exposure, and I'm very grateful for that.
If anything, it was the most difficult thing I had to accept in the last five years of me doing music. The game five years ago, compared to today has changed so much to the point where you can't use what was going on five years ago, today so I'm just working and taking a step in the right direction.
For sure! We've been seeing your work and you're doing great things. What's the goal for C4Truth?
Thank you so much, I appreciate it, man. What's next for me as a whole? Obviously, I have a long-term goal of being successful and known for being an artist/entertainer/comedian. I've got big aspirations of being like Chunkz, or Filly for example. Currently, right now, I see my small steps to take it further, right now I feel like it's just getting more exposure on my TikTok, and more exposure on my music. Once all of those things are done, I do plan to release a song, but I feel like the way I plan to release songs from now on, there's going to be a key promotion plan to it, there's not going to be anything crazy but it's going to be something nobody has really done, so more people are taking me in, rather than "oh he dropped a song", so that's really my next plan for now.
We see you, if you could work with anyone from the industry, who are you picking?
If I had to pick someone from the entertainment industry it would probably be Chunkz, 'cause I mean Chunkz is Chunkz, either Chunkz or Micheal Dappah, I just feel like I could really connect if you know what I mean, they're really alike, and could keep an audience. However, for the music industry, for a collab, is Dave or Stormzy but I think for a track that would actually go viral on TikTok now, I'd say Lady Leshurr or Big Shaq.
We see it for sure! Are you interested in any American entertainers right now?
Definitely has to be Kevin Hart, I've watched all of his movies, anything to do with him, anything to do with him or Dwayne Johnson. Ah, Kevin Hart is literally the way bro trust me.
We've seen that you've been on The Spit Game a few times, what's it like working with those guys over there?
Spit Game's great and all, I've been working with the creator years before its existence, and I'm always happy to work with them but I honestly feel like it's not really the direction I'm trying to take, I'm really trying to take my own lane and get exposure myself, rather than get exposure from another platform if you know what I mean, I want my own name.
That's completely understandable, if you could feature on a social media platform, which would you pick?
I have made multiple appearances on Spit Game so it’s a no-brainer for me, it’s got to be BL@CKBOX, like the under 18’s was something I was striving for in the past but now that I’ve really started to find myself, my sound, and take my own path in music it’s not really something that is one of my main goals compared to most other artists because I don’t need it. However, I definitely wouldn’t mind being on the platform for U18s
For sure, those man killed it! What can we expect to see from you this year?
Musically, I’m gonna be silent for now, but I have some insane things planned for the second half of this year and I think it’s probably the hardest I’ve ever gone. Nah, it IS the hardest I’ve ever gone musically. I’ve even got one track that I plan to actually release. All I can say is, it’s going to cause absolute chaos, I’m not going to say too much as to why it’s going to cause chaos but I don’t think a lot of people are going to be happy about that track, that’s all I’m gonna say.
Can't wait to see what the year holds for you, what do you think the music scene is missing right now?
They're missing me. Nah, I'm joking, I feel like we've not got a summertime number-one hit, we haven't had like a big big song in a while so I feel like someone needs to come out and make that.
For sure, do you have any advice for anyone trying to break into the scene?
I think for starters, I'd just say, use TikTok. TikTok is just making so many people that were irrelevant again, it's such an overpowered app, seeing all of the artists come out of that app, making money off of music, getting signed to labels, and doing big things. Even independent artists, it's making so many up-and-coming artists, as long as you have an image, you have something people are going to enjoy and be entertained by.
The app is actually goated, before we ask you our final question, do you have anything you would like to add?
I'd like to say big up ScoopAllccess, for giving me the opportunity for this interview, I really do appreciate it, I really don't get many opportunities like this, so thank you, man.
Of course, it's only right we give you the platform and help you on your journey, finally, do you have anyone you would like to shout out?
If I'm being genuine, I'd like to shout out myself, I'm so proud of myself. These last five years have not been easy, on my come up I've had stress, literally enjoyment, laughter, tears, so many things, like this is me, this is who I am, I'm so proud of myself for coming this far, I still haven't given up faith.
We appreciate your time, thank you for speaking with us man, keep doing you.
