Back in March we got in touch with J Shar to talk about his music career, what it was like growing up all over London, dream houses, the personal meaning of music and all new music to come out soon. A huge thank you to J Shar for his time in talking to us, be sure to go over to Instagram and drop him a follow on @j_sharrr to keep up with all new music.

Hey J Shar, please can you give an introduction on yourself for those currently not aware of who you are?

So my name is J Shar I am from Enfield North London. Started writing music when I was 16, I am now 28, I have a few music videos out, and I am a solo artist with a few friends already in the industry/ on the come up like me. I’ve done about 10 shows where I have performed, Stevenage, Ilford, Windsor.

And what does making music mean to you?

Gives me a reason to stay hungry and ambitious and want to achieve all my future long term goals. It gets a lot off my chest too sometimes it’s difficult to talk about things so it’s easier to express through my music.

100%, how would you describe your music to someone?

It’s real life either Past/present, you see a side of me that you wouldn’t normally see or expect maybe?

For sure, who are you listening to right now?

No one really anymore to be honest, I listen to a lot of oldskool rap/grime/and 90s, 80s, 70s music. 50 cent, Phill Collins, Beegees, Michael Jackson, Bugzy Malone, Popcaan, Skepta, J Hus, and Nines.

What do you think the music scene is currently missing?

I personally think a lot of rappers now days sound the same and it’s boring, the scene needs something different and I've been told by many people I have a unique sound and am not like anyone else.

A lot of people that we’ve spoken to say the same, we completely agree! What can you tell about growing up in London?

Yeah it’s so true it’s jarring. I moved about 8 times growing up and use to spend a lot of time at my nans in Hornsey, Holloway Road. I lived in Enfield/Waltham cross/ moved to Spain for a year in Valencia/ lived in Turnford and also lived in Goffs Oak. Use to play a lot of football, as I started to finish school I got into music as my nan passed away and was on the streets more in Cheshunt/Turnford.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you be, and why?

Eventually I would like to have a house out in Essex somewhere as I ride motorbikes and the roads out there are really like long and open plus less cars but I would also like an apartment in Marbella that I can escape to for 6 months every year. Purely for the hot weather as it rains too much here.

That sounds like the high life! What can we expect next from you?

I’ve got 2 tracks ready just waiting for the right time to do the videos. I'm switching it up a lil from the real rap so expect some grime in the next few months.Tracks are called 'Darkest 1' and 'Ghost'.

We cannot wait to hear them! Do you have any advice for anyone looking to start a music career?

Yeah I’d say just cut out all bullshit, stay in a routine. Keep disciplined and don’t stop even when times are harder than they where when you started.

Thank you for your time in speaking with us. Appreciate it!
