Recently we hit up Kids With Snipers, West Midlands clothing brand to talk about their journey from the beginning up until now, speaking on wanting to be exclusively online, potential collabs with other clothing brands, their brand aims, and where they feel most creative. A huge thank you to Kids With Snipers for their time and efforts in speaking with us, be sure to follow their Instagram @kidswithsnipers to stay up to date with their new releases this year!

Hey guys, please could you just give a quick introduction on your brand for those who are not yet aware of your work?

We are Kids with Snipers, a brand that was started in my uni room in NW London and now is currently based in the West Midlands.

When was the brand born?

Our first ever drop was in March of 2022 but I’d say the brand was really born when I finished uni and I could start focusing more on making clothes - I really started taking it seriously in October.

What is the aim of the brand, what made you want to start a clothing brand?

The brand aims to push youth empowerment in an industry that is led by large cooperation's that dictate the trends. Our aim is to encourage and give more power to the youth when it comes to design and expression. We make anything from zip ups to cargos and would say we specialise in unique up-cycled pieces like denim and work pants that we drop in limited quantities.

Were there any brand that inspired you at the time?

I feel like there were a lot of brands doing the same thing - a lot of screen prints uninspiring designs within the UK. Brands that were doing something different were always inspiring. Brands like Fugazi have inspired the way I go about designing and i take real inspiration from the way they market their products.

And when you first started designing, did you ever think you'd be making the type of designs you are today?

I think the designs have definitely evolved. At the start I though my designs were cool but as you keep designing and putting your work out there you start to experiment a bit more. I definitely wouldn’t have envisioned the brand to be where it is today but the evolution of the designs were inevitable.

Is there anything you'd change as you look back?

Nothing at all. Everything I’ve made is something I’d wear in the moment. I think the progression of the brand, designs, ideas and marketing illustrates the progression of my life at that moment.

What's next for the brand?

We will see. I just take each day as it comes but bigger ideas will come to fruition and more people will start to take notice.

For sure! Have you ever wanted to be a high street brand or exclusively online?

Exclusively online I think, but it would be fun to experiment with pop up shops and stuff. Maybe getting some 1of1 garments in smaller retailers but nothing too mainstream to keep the brands ethos as authentic as possible.

Would you ever want to collab with other smaller brands to make something amazing?

I think it’s a possibility, I think we’d have to really be aligned on what we want from our brands in the long run. It’s never been about making clothes for the sake of it. I’d love to collaborate with artists and creatives from all fields - I think that’s what the industry is lacking.

As you're currently based in the West Midlands, do you see a difference in audience compared to when you were in London?

Not really, I think the whole of the UK is influenced by what’s going on in the capital. And there’s not one region in the UK where I’d see more activity from which is nice.

How easy was it for you guys to make new ideas, and where do you find you're the most creative?

It’s pretty easy, I find it easy to take inspiration from anything. I believe you can make any idea look good if you execute it properly. I’m happiest when I’m on my own and I can brainstorm and just experiment with ideas.

Absolutely! Do you have any advice for anyone looking to start their own brand?

Do it for the love of making clothes and making a difference. Enjoy the journey.

Perfect, and finally, do you have anyone you would like to shout out?

I’m lucky to have growing support from my friends and followers but there’s been one person who’s shown their support since the brand was just an idea - they know who they are and it’s meant the world.

For sure, thank you so much for your time!
