Today on SCOOP we met up with Cee to talk all things Royal Albert Hall performances, TV presenting goals, and some very good musical advice for anyone who needs it, all at the age of sixteen, Cee is on point right now and needs her flowers. A huge thank you to Cee for her time and efforts in speaking with us, be sure to go over to @realcee.ldn to keep up with all of her latest performances this year.
Hey Cee, please could you give an introduction as to who you are for anyone who isn't yet aware of your work?
I'm Cee, I'm from South London, and still in school and I'm an aspiring artist, I'm a rapper and I try to sing when I can, I'm trying to learn so I can be multi-talented in different areas of music. I also love TV presenting and hosting, it just gives me a sense of confidence on the stage and it just makes me feel really good about being in front of people, making people happy.
Absolutely, how did you get into music?
I got into music through one of my teachers at school, I started off wanting to sing but I just couldn't sing but I always had a passion for music, I was always really good at English, I really like writing poems and everything, but I tried doing it over a beat or in a rap. Then I did spoken word and he just showed it to someone at the Royal Albert Hall and I hated it honestly but he said they really wanted me to perform there as an opening act. I really enjoyed it and was like 'this is something I love', but I still loved rapping like Eminem, really fast raps to show what I can do, then I started showing people what I could do.
I then started performing with my friends, for then we made a song together and then we made it into a trio with another girl that raps and sings, since then we've done performances and have a few unreleased songs.
What was performing in the Royal Albert Hall like?
My first time I thought it was really big like 5000 people, all the seats were packed, it was really overwhelming, there were people everywhere, the orchestra was behind me, my teachers playing the piano at the front, it was really scary. I even messed up but I knew how to cover it. The second time I performed there, it was alright, each time I go there, it just gets smaller and smaller. I just wasn't that nervous anymore, like performing for me was like a drug.
What sort of music were you listening to when you were growing up?
Growing up I really didn't listen to music, I didn't have headphones, I was never interested in playing music in my ears, I didn't start listening to music until like the start of secondary, I listen to all genres, I don't really have a preferred type but probably just like A Boogie, but I don't write like him, I don't rap like him, everyone I listen to, I don't work like them but I just love their music.
We love A Boogie, would you say your music taste is more US or UK heavy?
Definitely more taste in American music, I don't really know why but I don't really listen to UK artists, I should and all of my friends always tell me to, the most I hear UK rap is on TikTok.
Do you think the UK scene is missing something musically or do you just not care for UK rap?
No, honestly UK music is good, since I'm a UK music artist, instead of me actually listening to a song, I analyse it more, it takes the point of the song away for me. I want to break up all parts of the songs, I listen to everything but the actual song.
Absolutely, what's the goal for you?
The goal for me is just to make it out, the money can come later, I just have a passion for music, a passion for the entertainment industry, something about the industry is something that I want to be in, so for now my goal as me being a sixteen year old is to get into ELAM College, and hopefully I get in. In the long run, my main goal is to perform and be up there with Nicki Minaj, people that influenced me when I was younger, I want to experience everything I can whilst being famous.
You've appeared on Spit Game before, how was that experience for you?
It's really good, opportunities have come from it and a lot more following, it was scary, all of them are older than me, they're like 18, and I'm just there by myself, I was the first girl to go up but then I got a lot of respect for it, I was really happy to be there.
What can we see from you next?
Next up I have something in the making regarding contracts, hopefully it will be TV next, but in the meantime, I've been writing bars and trying to promote my thing and get more following from the rapping side of things. More music, and more appearances.
Do you have any advice for anyone looking to get into the music scene?
My advice would be to have your bases of your song, create songs, find a way. Get your songs out there, that's my best advice. I haven't got any songs, I know how to make hooks and verses but I don't know how to structure, I just always over think things, so just post it and get it out.
Finally, do you have anyone you would like to shout out?
For me it's just people that I know are rapping well, all my girls that are coming up with me. The whole of our community itself, I can't think of everyone right now but yeah.
A huge thank you for speaking with us, keep killing the game!
