Fredo dropped 'Money Can't Buy Happiness' back in 2021, the album reached number two in the Official UK Album Charts and stayed in the charts for nine weeks. We've taken a look at the legendary album to put them in order of our least favourite to our top five favourites from this incredible album. Let us know in the comments below which you would put first.
11. I Miss
From the first listen of this album, this track has just been at the bottom of our list and is nothing personal towards anyone, it's just not for us. The track itself is dedicated to his childhood on the streets as he talks about everything that he misses, for example, "I miss nitties that askin' for more" and "I miss Billy, I can't even talk", of which was a good friend of the rappers, who sadly passed away in 2020.
10. Money Talks ft. Dave
We strongly believe that this track is not at all everything people like to say it is. We have seen better from the pair in previous tracks. The hype this track received when it dropped made the song overrated and to be honest, we could probably count on our hands how many times we've listened to this track since release. We understand that the track has it's bars and times where you can nod your head to the beat but in the grand scheme this track cannot be put any higher compared to any of the other tracks.
9. Burner On Deck ft. Pop Smoke & Young Adz
For all three of the artists on this track, it works very well as Young Adz us able to do the chorus perfectly, showing us exactly what we want to see when he's on a track. Fredo and Pop Smoke also show their signature sounds throughout. The reason this track ranks at number nine, is because we just aren't the biggest fans of Pop Smoke's sound and since released, we haven't listened to it more that the rest of the tracks so it is only right that the track comes in at number nine.
8. Spaghetti
This track stems from the meme that went around in 2019 as Fredo created the statement "Don't feed the badders pasta", as the star named the track after this, it shows homage to himself, alongside the fact that throughout the track he speaks on his high profile gang member status, as well as his popularity in the drug game in and around London. We like this track a lot but believe that the refrain lets the track down a fair bit as you can hear Fredo is trying a different sound. We respect that he's experimenting but it just isn't for us.
7. Do You Right
We previously spoke about Fredo experimenting with his sound and it not sounding so good. However, when it's done on this track, it sounds perfect as he succeeds at an auto-tuned trap sound while talking about typical Fredo topics. These being women, sexual activities and gang leader messages, for example, he lets his oppositions in the streets know that he is not messing around in the bar "We pull up, hop out all on the other side, And shoot your guy (Slatt)". We love when Fredo is aggressive in his tracks and this is a perfect example of that.
6. Back To Basics
This single release was produced by Dave, so you already know before hearing it that it's going to be crazy. Fredo is able to tell us about his money and designer brands throughout, while still being able to fire shots at anyone that wants it, for example, "In '016, I got my first music project placed on earth, But on the opp-block, I taped it first". Letting everyone listening know that he's been doing this, he's been living the road life way before any other music started. We love this track because it's straight raw Fredo and for that reason it's placed in sixth, just before we enter our top five.
5. Aunts Place
To start off our top five to this album, this track is powerful as we are able to understand Fredo as he talks us through what it was like growing up in the drug scene. Reflecting on the times his mum would kick him out for his crimes so the rapper would have to go and stay with his Aunt more than enough times. Talking to us about his dreams of making it out of the hood and the life that he didn't want to live, with his friends then switching up on him at the same time. We love this track for its powerful words and it really taught us a lesson or two about who Fredo really is as a person.
4. Ready ft. Summer Walker
'Ready' is another perfect example of raw Fredo as he mixes with Summer Walker as she is able to break up the track amazingly through the vocals in the chorus. Fredo is also talking about how he wants to change his life around and speaks with God a few times, pleading that he lets him into heaven, "God, I wonder, will you let me in to heaven or what?". We love Fredo also being able to talk about the passing of his good friend Billy Da Kid as he talks about giving Billy a gun and when he sadly passed, Fredo wanted to frame it and never let it go. In the real world, away from guns and violence, this is Fredo showing that he doesn't want to let his friend go, wanting to keep him close at all times.
3. What Can I Say
A beautiful tribute Billy Da Kid and Muscle Gotti, two good friends that he had lost within four months. As he speaks about his emotions and speaking on loyalty, shouting out other friends he has lost to death or prison. We particularly can appreciate the respect and the way he carries himself throughout this music video. The bar "All them visits, all them jails, you know I came darg, Now the next visit for you is in the graveyard, you really spent your life in and out of prison, finally done a year free and now I kinda wish you didn't" is something very special throughout the whole album as he grieves his good friends.
2. Blood In My Eyes
We love this track as we hear that Fredo is still grieving and coming to terms with the world changing around him, for example, "It took money for me to finally see, that the best things in life are for free, I'll give all the shit I have, just to bring all my ****** back". We can only appreciate what Fredo is talking about throughout as he also talks about his daughter and his relationship with the mother of his child, reflecting on his feelings towards not having a father figure growing up as he says "We know how it feels when dad ain't really there". We can only respect the artist for this song, coming in at second place.
1. Biggest Mistake
We've said it once, and we'll say it again, we appreciate when a rapper like Fredo talks about real problems and his raw emotions that he's been feeling throughout his life. Coming to terms with who he really is as a person and being able to talk about his experiences growing. This is definitely our favourite Fredo track and can listen to it in any situation. The track itself makes us want to work harder to be able to achieve everything we dream of. This absolutely deserves first place on this ranking for an incredible album.
