West London star AJ Tracey started performing under 'Looney' via SoundCloud over eleven years ago. Following his musical roots, Tracey has released two albums and a range of EPs. Here at SCOOP, we’ve looked at his discography, picking out some of our favourites from AJ Tracey and putting them in an order. Be sure to tell us your favourite tracks in the comments below and what you would like to see from AJ Tracey.
5. Graveyard Shift ft. Slowthai
To start off our top five, it's only right we put in this underrated track from two of our favourite rappers! This track has been completely slept on since it was released back in 2020. The way it was so unexpected from the two was incredible and they way they blend on the track together is so refreshing to see as they're two completely different types of artists in terms of style. We love this song as it's got so much replay value, for that reason it has to be in our top five.
4. Packages
An ultimate classic from AJ in his earlier stages of music back in early 2016. One of our favourite version of AJ has to be his grime tracks, and this is exactly one of those tracks. The video is a classic, the track itself is a classic, standing there in his tracksuit surrounded by friends and family in blacked out clothes and masks is what grime is all about as they hype each him up with adlibs and nod their heads. You cannot go wrong when listening to this track, a four minute track is a part of rap history for sure.
3. Reasonable
One of Traceys more recent tracks slots in perfectly in our top five as it's a perfect example of who AJ is now compared to old grime AJ. The video, in our opinion, is a masterpiece, AJ looks cold and the visual is everything you want from a track like this. In the last two years this is easily his best track. We love to see a rapper mature through their career as you can see that now AJ doesn't "pick sides", in reference to gangs. However, old AJ would have been all over the gang tags and all things roads.
2. Alakazam ft. JME & Denzel Curry
We strongly believe that this is AJ Tracey's best feature to date. The mix of AJ to grime legend JME to the one and only, Denzel Curry to give it that sprinkle of American rap that this track needed. His catchy hook with JME's verse is the most basic transition we've ever seen but as soon as you hear the verse it doesn't matter. Only to be followed up with Curry coming in via the photos on the wall, spreading his fire verse. It's the only done thing to put this in second place.
1. Fire in the Booth pt.1
It's easy to say that this is Tracey's best piece of work, even though it came out seven years ago. Our first glimpse of the rapper via Fire in the Booth and he proved his name and that he deserved a place in the scene. The switch of music beats just shows how versatile the rapper is. The comments section is one place that definitely agrees with me, for example, "This hunger and passion can never be duplicated", and "Some say the booth is still on fire". This AJ will never be topped.
