We take a look back at some of the most popular songs from February and rate them from one to five in terms of our genuine opinions of the songs. Talking about the return of Mostack, Young Adz not being a Barbie in their new pink track and all things Slowthai with his feel good track.

5. D-Block Europe - Barbie

As D-Block release their second single of the year, you can see how important marking is to the duo, if you follow Young Adz online, you can see he’s been posting nearly every day with captions “Not a barbie” and a lot of different pink objects being the focus of many photos. The fans were made very aware that something was coming and we were everything but disappointed when the track dropped. The instrumental is something we’ve seen before from DBE as it’s just a typical rap beat with not so many special bars but D-Block know what they’re doing on a song to make it good without saying anything outstanding and when you listen to a single from these guys, it’s immediately incredible, so in my eyes, this was instantly a hit from them. Also being a huge fan of bright colours in any type of visuals, we were huge fans from the beginning of the video all of the way to the very end.

4. Mostack - The Weekend

This month we saw the return of Mostackafter having been quiet recently since his last release ‘Can’t Forgive’ in September. The promo for this track wasn’t huge but more for his die-hard fans to show him love and on this video, they’ve done just that. His fans were very happy to see his return as the comments were full of love, for example, “This is the classic stack we needed glad he’s back”, and “Genuinely one of the best songs I have heard in a long time!”, “This is what UK music has been missing glad Mostack is back” and, “True goats drop bangers when they want. It just so happened that the streets needed this. If it ain’t Mo, it’s Hus! In them we trust”. As for the visuals, we can see Mo having fun with his guys in almost every scene and of course, showing off his block in Hornsey. His flow sounds so effortless and he just makes it look easy. In my opinion, nobody else in the scene does it like Stacko, so it’s only right he appears in our top five, we can’t wait to see what else comes from Mo this year.

3. Strandz ft Digga D - Us Against The World Remix

Have you ever seen a Digga D on a track that he’s not been spun on? This may be the first example of this situation. We weren’t very familiar with Strandz before but now I think it’s safe to say, we won’t be forgetting him any time soon. The way he came onto this track in some very fancy-looking visuals in a very posh location and starts rapping so causally on the beat is so clean and refreshing to see on such a different rap sound. Don’t get it twisted, Digga is also sick on this track but is shown up by Strandz and is so good to see as this is one of Strandz’s biggest tracks to date. We cannot wait for this guy's next drop.

2. Pinkpatheress ft Ice Spice - Boys A Liar Pt.2

The playback value of this song is incredible, the way it has been shown online, and the way it has people talking is something else. There’s a chance this track may not have been as big without the influence of social platforms like TikTok but none of the less, this track slaps at any point in the day, just woken up? Put on this track. Bad day? Put on this track. There’s no other song doing these numbers in the scene right now but we’re all very aware of the following PinkPantheress holds as we’ve seen her also collab with Cental Cee some time ago. I believe that this track has got to be in the track of the year argument already and that it truly deserves the love it’s been getting so far.

1. Slowthai - Feel Good

You cannot listen to this track without smiling. This track was released in February as a single for Slowthai’s next album ‘UGLY’ and it’s just such a feel-good track, hence the name of the song. Ty meets with his fans as a surprise throughout the video as he joins them for a dance and a big smile, spreading the love around to his fans watching back at home. The fans went crazy for this track in the comments of the YouTube video, for example, “You’re a legend, mate. Love seeing their reactions to your presence”, “This made me so happy I cried, Slowthai making me feel secure to let the daily guard down a bit, thank you from the bottom of my heart”, “it’s difficult to not feel on top of the world when listening to this, thank you Slowthai for the years of uplifting energy”, and “Slowthai is doing what many UK rappers fail to realise, fulfil their musical potential as an artist and experiment music as a spectrum”. We love this track so much and hope you do too, make sure you stream his new album ‘UGLY’ and check out our article on the tape.
