This month we got in touch with Traffik to talk about their new business and the products available, advice to other businesses, where their brand name came from and all of their goals for this year. Be sure to check these guys out on Instagram @traffik.web and stick around for their next drop.

Yes, guys, thank you for speaking with me, please could you give an introduction to your brand to anyone who isn’t aware yet?

We’re two dentistry students that met at uni. We had this idea based on one of us being East Asian and the other black, linking it to the movie ‘Rush Hour’ but that’s a long story. We’re based in London and have been doing it for a couple of years now.

What sort of products are you producing?

So for now a balaclava that folds up as a beanie with a similar design and other ideas in the vault, leaning more to the streetwear side of fashion.

It looks cold! How long does the production on that sort of thing take?

It really depends on the time of year and the location of the manufacturer so about 15 days plus 20 if you include shipping.

Where did the brand name come from?

So, basically one of us is black and the other is East Asian so we joked around one time comparing our friendship to Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan. When we had the idea of starting a clothing brand, we thought let’s name it ‘Rush Hour’ but obviously for copyright reasons, we thought nah. So words similar to a rush hour like traffic came up.

How does it feel when you’re able to hold a product that you’ve produced?

It feels like holding your firstborn son, it can do no wrong. Quality-wise we really like it as well so we basically wear it everywhere. It gives you a lil’ more confidence fr.

What does 2023 look like for Traffik?

Linear progression and building a niche community with the customers who really fuck with us.

Do you have any advice for people trying to make and start their own brand?

It sounds weird but I feel like if you tell everyone your gonna do something it gives you a false sense of achievement, like you’ve already done it due to the hype from your friends you might get. So just start and keep it to yourself for a little bit and go through with it. Also surround yourself with like-minded people who are hungry for success as it will make you push yourself further.

If you could collaborate with a brand of your choice, which would you pick?

Obviously, it would be sick to have a massive collab but we look up to and are inspired by other London brands so would be sick to collab with brands like Aeliza and Unknown London.

Do you have anyone you would like to shout out, anyone that’s helped you along the way?

I’d say our boy Jai for helping us with taking and editing our photos he’s a really talented photographer - @jainishpatel_

Appreciate your time, do you have anything else you would like to add?

Look Both Ways.
